Located in all-IP-based 3G mobile networks or fixed/wireless service providers' IMS networks, this media gateway provides media conversion between heterogeneous networks, serving as a key component of next-generation mobile and IMS networks. SMEC's IMS Media Gateway enables interworking with PSTN, 2G/3G mobile networks, and VoIP networks within IMS environments, while also providing interworking with 3G RAN, PSTN, and IMS networks in all-IP-based 3G core networks. IMG-24K supports the MEGACO (3GPP Mn, Mc) protocol for interworking with the MGC (Media Gateway Control) in IMS networks and the MSC server in 3G core networks.
